Mission

The mission of Alameda County Meals on Wheels (ACMOW) is to enable frail elders to maintain their independence at home by providing them with high quality, nutritious meals that are cost effective, prepared in Alameda County, delivered by caring drivers and administered by local community organizations. ACMOW accomplishes this mission by developing resources to support and expand the work of local Meals on Wheels Programs, providing coordination of services and facilitating countywide strategic planning.

Alameda County Meals on Wheels' challenge is to establish the capacity to serve a rapidly increasing population of seniors in the new millennium. Over the next twenty years the senior population in Alameda County is projected to grow by 23.5%, and the fastest growing segment of this senior population are those 85 years of age and older; the seniors we serve.
